The Texas State Strutters will host the Strutters Spectacular on April 13 and 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum.

The world famous Texas State Strutters will perform a variety of dance routines for spectators during their annual spring show. Tickets will be sold at the door.

“We are really excited about the show this year,” said Taylor Hanson, sophomore Lieutenant Strutter.  “We have been working on these routines for a while now and hope our family and friends will enjoy them.”

The Strutters take on many roles throughout the year. From cheering at athletic events to performing on America's Got Talent, the girls keep busy all year round. However, The Strutters Spectacular is the time the team gets the opportunity to showcase their true dance ability.

“It’s my favorite part of being a Strutter. We get to show everyone that we can do more than just cheer on our team in the stands,” said Sarah Wiggins, Strutter.

The Strutters were founded in 1960 by Ms. Barbara G. Tidwell. The current director is Ms. Susan Angell-Gonzales. The organization was the first precision dance team formed at a four-year university and is currently the largest in the country.

The annual spring show gives Strutter alums the chance to relive a part of their past.

“I’m really excited to see all the girls and see the routines,” said Anally Guerrero, Strutter Alumn. “It’s really fun to come back and see what I used to be a part of. The show always makes me proud to say I was a Strutter.”

“I was Captain of the Strutters way back in 1994 and I still attend their spring shows every year,” said Mary Ann Barrow, Strutter Alumn. “It’s a tradition. Like we were taught back in the day, once a Strutter, always a Strutter.”

To honor the Strutter Organization, the Strutters Gallery is currently being built on the ground level on the north side stadium at Bobcat Stadium. It is a museum that will showcase the honors and history of the Texas State Strutters. The gallery is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2012.
