Diverse Sources Exercise
RJ Cichocki
History Major
Q1: "Bothers me. Funny you picked me, I worked on the Legislation to ban smoking for Texas. We have to wait till 2013 before we can try for the ban again."
Q2: "No."
Q3: "Cleaner. The library won't be a smoke tunnel. Cigarette butts won't be all over the ground."
"Cancer will go down with bans in place.
"Second-hand smoke is deadly around you, even on skin and clothes from the person sitting next to you (in class.)"
We talked about cities who have bans against smoking and people who are against the ban. The ban failed because the wording was a combined from other state's bans, such as California and Colorado. He didn't have his paperwork with him regarding the statistics about cancer. Banning smoking in bars is a major issue and RJ mentioned how more people will go to the bars with non-smoking. Non-smoking is also better for the employees who work at bars. The argument was that people who can't smoke in bars will hurt the bar's business.
